It’s called the Dragon Moonshine Company and according to co-owners Chris Wagner and Richard Lavin, they started Charlotte’s newest distillery in order to put some fire in your belly.
We stopped by their distillery at 516 E. 15th Street, suite 14B (facing N. Davidson) for the launch of their first offering: an 80 proof Silver Rum.
Chris and Richard took some time to visit with us and tell their tale of how their dream to make the best spirits at the lowest cost took years to achieve and included near endless planning, design, construction, regulations, and testing. Today, however, the Dragon Moonshine Company is a reality with several new offerings just around the corner.
For now the moonshine duo isn’t producing any moonshine for public consumption, but they will. Until then, if you want to know what goes into to making the tastiest craft rum around, you can stop by the distillery for a chat. However, the easiest way to get your hands on their Silver Run is to stop by your neighborhood North Carolina ABC Liquor Store to stock up.
