June 15, 1955 ~ Duck and Cover

Today in 1955, the first nationwide “Duck and Cover” Drill was held. The duck-and-cover campaign remained a standard response to potential nuclear attack throughout the 1950s and into the ’60s. Despite the tongue and cheek parodies that continue to this day, the #duckandcover campaign remains one of the most successful “#homelandsecurity” initiatives in U.S. history

Today in 1777, the 2nd Continental Congress Adopted “Old Glory” as the National #Flag of the #USA.
