July 17 ~ National Peach Ice Cream Day
It’s July 17th, and that means it’s hot in South Carolina.
But we are in luck, because it is National Peach Ice Cream Day and there is no better place to get a scoop of frozen creamy … peachy sweetness than the Palmetto State.
While Georgia may be the first state to come to mind when we think of peaches, 20 states produce peaches commercially.
Food Truck Bites- Jive Turkey Legs ~ Charlotte, NC
Who doesn’t remember the thrill of visiting the carnival, fair, and amusement park for death defying roller coasters, goofy characters, and giant stuffed prizes? Over time, memories of those once dazzling spectacles often fade and the stuffed bears are thrown away, but the aroma of the food lingers on.
Hot dogs, turkey legs, cotton candy, nachos, and more. There’s something special about the taste and aroma of the treats we could only find under the Big Top that brought smiles to our younger selves. Those memories tend to resurface at local parades or sporting events, but more often than not the opportunity to taste those delectable foods from our youth are fewer and far between. That is until now.
Fresh Med Food Truck ~ Charlotte, NC
Food Trucks have become all the rage. Their ability to setup quickly and to deliver a quality product fast makes them a wonderful option for all sorts of activities, including festivals, parties, gatherings, rallies, sporting events, and even weddings. But today’s eateries on wheels are much more than the corner hot dog vendor of yesterday.
These mobile behemoths often incorporate professional kitchens complete with all the cooking, baking, and frying tools (and gadgets) found in top brick and mortar restaurants.
