York Chester Brewing ~ Belmont, NC
One small business is smaller than most. In fact, it is tiny by comparison to similar concepts throughout the Carolina’s. The York Chester Brewing Company, founded by Jarvis Roberts and his wife Julia, is a nano brewery that opened it’s tiny taproom in one small corner of the Riverside Complex at 1500 Riverside Drive #250 in late 2016.
We stopped in just a few weeks after Jarvis started serving the public. The taproom, which seats just a handful of folks, was full and the craft beer never stopped flowing. Jarvis gave us a tour of his system; discussed the many challenges he faced on his quest to open York Chester’s doors; and even offered up his 2-cents about learning how to brew on his own.
York Chester may be small, but Jarvis and Julia are all heart. Their enthusiasm, good nature and dogged determination to make great beer is evident in everything they do. It’s also evident in every pint.
So, if you’re in Belmont be sure to stop in at York Chester and have a pint. You might just learn a thing or two from some of the finest folks you’ll ever get a chance to meet.
